Namibia’s dream of securing their first-ever qualification to the World Cup remains on course after triumphing over Malawi in the fifth round of the qualifiers.
The Brave Warriors delivered a 1-0 victory over Malawi at the Bingu National Stadium in the 2026 World Cup qualifying series on Thursday.
Prins Menelik Tjiueza’s strike in the first half of the match ensured Namibia secure maximum points at away, bolstering their qualification chances.
Namibia now find themselves in second position, accumulating 11 points after five matches, two points behind log leaders, Tunisia.
With only the top team securing an automatic qualification, the Brace Warriors are expected to battle for maximum points in remaining matches to book a slot.
Having secured an important away win, Namibia will play host to Equatorial Guinea in the sixth round of the qualifiers on Monday, March 24, 2025.
