The Moroccan Football Federation has confirmed that the Atlas Lions will host Niger on September 5 in a crucial World Cup qualifying clash at the newly renovated Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
Replacing the old facility, the stadium represents a major upgrade in Morocco’s sporting infrastructure and will provide a fitting stage for the national team’s bid to secure a spot at their third consecutive World Cup in the United States.
Morocco last played at the venue on June 12, 2023, in a goalless friendly against Cape Verde.
After nearly two years of construction, the stadium—boasting a 75,000-seat capacity—will also serve as the opening venue for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, hosting all Group A fixtures, including Morocco’s matches.
The Atlas Lions, who top Group E with 15 points, will then travel to Zambia for Matchday 8 of the qualifiers on September 8, with the game scheduled at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Niger, coached by Moroccan Zaki Badou, will provide a stern test for Morocco as they aim to secure qualification.
