The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has decided to select Rabat’s Moulay Abdellah Stadium to host the Atlas Lions’ match against Niger in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in September.
Morocco will clash with Zaki Badou’s side in the Matchday 7 games before taking on Zambia in the Matchday 8 games.
Rabat’s Moulay Abdellah Stadium is also expected to host the opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco, as well as the final match.
Reports suggest that maintenance work on the stadium, which can accommodate 75,000 spectators, is nearing completion and will be ready in August, according to official statements from the president of the Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa.
Morocco national team coach Walid Regragui is aiming to play at least five matches at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations, allowing the players to acclimatise to the ground.
The Moroccan national team tops its group in the World Cup qualifiers, with a perfect score (15 points) after playing 5 matches.
