Ethiopia will be hoping to end the March international break on a good note when they take Djibouti in matchday six of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The Walyas will play host to Djibouti at the Stade Ben Ahmed El Abdi in Morocco on Monday night, as both teams aim to bounce back from previous defeats. Kick-off for the much-anticipated clash is 9pm.
Ethiopia goes into this match on the back of a 2-0 home defeat to powerhouse Egypt while Djibouti succumbed to a 4-1 home defeat to Burkina Faso in the fifth round of the qualifying series.
Both teams have performed abysmally in the qualifiers, having failed to win any of the five matches played so far. Ethiopia has recorded three draws and two defeat while Djibouti has one draw and four defeats from the initial five matches in the qualifiers.
Ethiopia currently sit fifth on the standings in Group A, accumulating just three points while Djibouti sit bottom in the group with just a point.
Considering their positions, qualification to the biggest soccer mundial to be staged in USA, Canada and Mexico looks impossible.
Knowing exactly what’s is stake, both teams will approach this game with all seriously in a bid to finish in a respectable position in their group.
While Ethiopia aim to secure their first win in the qualifiers, Djibouti will be hoping to upset their opponent to snatch their first win.
