2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Madagascar fight back to beat Chad 3-1 to keep World Cup dream alive
Madagascar boosted their hopes of reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup after coming from behind to secure a 3-1 victory over Chad in a crucial Group I qualifier on Monday evening.
The match, played at Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca, saw Chad take a surprise lead in the 25th minute through Yves Allarabaye, who finished off a pass from Franck Tchaouna.
Despite dominating possession and piling on the pressure, Madagascar went into the break trailing 1-0.
The second half, however, belonged to the hosts. Warren Caddy drew them level before Rayan Raveloson and Hakim Abdallah struck to complete a spirited comeback that sealed all three points for the Barea.
The victory moves Madagascar to second place in Group I with 16 points, level with leaders Ghana.
The result also piles pressure on the Black Stars, who face Mali later tonight in a match that could prove decisive in the qualification race.
