The head coach of Uganda Cranes, Paul Put has applauded his players for putting up a fight in the win against Guinea in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking after the 1-0 victory on Tuesday, March 25, the coach said it was well-deserved.
He noted that his players gave their all, knowing that the encounter was very important in the qualification campaign.
“We deserved to win, we played well from the first minute and had many chances to score more goals in the first half. I am a proud of the team.
“We didn’t perform bad in Mozambique but the situations like the simple goals we conceded and red card cost us generally we didn’t have a bad game especially when we were reduced to ten men. The boys knew what this match meant and I am happy they put up a fight and got the positive results,” Paul Put told FUFA official website.
After the win against Guinea, Uganda now has three wins in the qualifiers for the World Cup.
The Cranes are third in the Group G standings with nine points after playing six matches.
They will have to fight for more wins in the remaining four matches to stand a chance of qualifying for the World Cup in 2026.
