2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Hakim Ziyech dropped again as Walid Regragui unveils Morocco squad for Niger, Tanzania games

Morocco head coach, Walid Regragui has announced a 26-man squad for their 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Niger and Tanzania next week.

The Atlas Lions will be hosted at the Honneur Stadium by the Nigeriens on March 21 before hosting Tanzania on March 25 in Oujda all in the Matchday five and six games.

The squad features the shock return of veteran defender Jaouad El Yamiq, alongside first-time call-ups for rising talents Omar El Hilali and Chemsdine Talbi.

Hamza Igamane earned his place after standout performances in the Scottish league, while Bilal Nadir’s inclusion comes after a fierce tug-of-war with Algeria, who were eager to snatch the promising midfielder.

Meanwhile, Hakim Ziyech continues to be absent from the squad.

Speaking during the press conference, Regragui urged Hakim Ziyech to rediscover his best form, saying the team needs him at his peak to succeed: “We need Ziyech on top of his game so he can help us win matches.”
