Guinea-Bissau and Egypt ended their clash in a 1-1 draw. The fixture, held at the September 24 Stadium, saw both teams vying for dominance but ultimately sharing the spoils.

The Pharaohs, who have been in impressive form throughout the qualifiers, faced a resilient Guinea-Bissau side.

Hossam Hassan’s team, renowned for their attacking prowess, found themselves stifled by the Djurtus’ solid defense.

Guinea-Bissau struck first, with Olympique Lyonnais forward Mama Baldé netting the opener in the 42nd minute.

This crucial goal allowed the hosts to head into the halftime break with a slender lead, giving them a morale boost against their more illustrious opponents.

However, the second half saw Egypt regroup and push forward with renewed vigor.

Their efforts were rewarded in the 70th minute when Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool star, found the back of the net, leveling the score.

Salah’s equalizer came as a relief for the Pharaohs, who were determined not to leave Bissau empty-handed.

Despite several attempts from both sides to secure a decisive goal, the score remained unchanged until the final whistle.

The draw means Egypt continues to lead Group A with 10 points, while Guinea-Bissau remains in second place with 6 points.

The match highlighted the competitive nature of the African qualifiers, with both teams demonstrating their capabilities and resilience.

Egypt, maintaining their leadership position, will look to continue their quest for a World Cup berth with confidence, while Guinea-Bissau’s solid performance keeps them well within contention for qualification.

As the qualifiers progress, the tension and excitement are bound to increase, with each game becoming crucial for the teams’ aspirations to make it to the 2026 World Cup.

Fans will be eagerly watching the next fixtures, anticipating more thrilling encounters on the road to the global stage.
