Comoros secured a narrow 1-0 win against Chad in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday, March 2025.
In the game played at a neutral venue, both national teams aimed for a win for different reasons.
While Comoros targeted the win to improve chances of qualifying for the world cup, Chad needed victory to bag a first three points in the qualification campaign.
Out of 23 shots played between the two national teams, only one hit the back of the net.
Comoros forward Rafuki Said scored the only goal of the match in the 24th minute, securing a vital win for his country.
The result means Comoros move to second in the Group I standings while Chad remain bottom of the group table.
The Black Stars of Ghana top the Group following back-to-back wins against Chad and Madagascar in the March international break.
The next round of games in the African qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be played in September 2025.
