Burundi delivered a commanding performance to secure a 5-0 victory over Seychelles in their 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualification CAF Group F match on March 25, 2025.
The dominant display saw Burundi net five goals, with Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana scoring twice in the 24th and 31st minutes.
Captain Christophe Nduwarugira opened the scoring in the 22nd minute before Bimenyimana doubled their lead.
Burundi extended their advantage further in the second half, with Blaise Kanakimana striking in the 50th minute and Jospin Girumugisha sealing the emphatic win with a goal in the 56th minute.
Seychelles struggled to cope with Burundi’s relentless attacks and ended the match without a goal.
With this win, Burundi moved to third place in Group F with 10 points from six matches, having won three, drawn one, and lost two.
Côte d’Ivoire leads the group with 16 points, followed closely by Gabon with 15 points. Kenya and Gambia occupy fourth and fifth places, respectively, while Seychelles remain at the bottom of the table with six defeats and no points.
The result strengthens Burundi’s qualification hopes, while Seychelles’ campaign remains disappointing, with a concerning goal difference of 2:30.
