2026 World Cup Qualifiers: AJ Auxerre midfielder Elisha Owusu targets Ghana return ahead of Chad, Mali games

AJ Auxerre midfielder Elisha Owusu has expressed his determination to return to the Black Stars squad as Ghana prepares for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Owusu, who made his national team debut against Nigeria during the 2022 World Cup playoffs, has struggled to maintain a regular spot due to injury setbacks. Now fully fit, the midfielder is eager to contribute once again.

“I’m so motivated to play for Ghana,” Owusu told Flashscore.com. “Being in the team means a lot. I’ll give my maximum, my best to be in the squad, and we’ll let the coach decide.”

Ghana will face Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on September 4, before hosting Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8, in Matchday 7 and 8 fixtures of the qualifiers.

After six games, the Black Stars top Group I with 15 points and will be aiming to strengthen their position as they chase a fifth World Cup appearance.
