2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Abdoul Karim Traore brace secures 2-1 win for Guinea against Mozambique
Teenager Abdoul Karim Traore starred for Guinea on Thursday evening, netting a brace to lead them to a 2-1 victory against Mozambique.
The forward started for his national team today in their Round 9 encounter in Group G.
In the pulsating encounter that ensued between the two national teams, Abdoul Karim Traore opened the scoring after just two minutes, firing home after Ousmane Camara assisted him.
After going behind, Mozambique came in strong and mounted a strong performance to get on the scoresheet.
Veteran defender Reinildo Mandava equalised in the 19th minute to level the score after Geny Catamo set him up.
After that goal, both teams pushed for another equaliser but failed to find the back of the net before halftime.
After recess, Abdoul Karim Traore won the game for Guinea in the 59th minute, scoring after receiving a pass from Antoine Conte.
The win takes Guinea to 14 points, in Group G, one point behind Mozambique in third place.
Neither country can qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
