2026 WCQ: Mohammed Kudus strikes first as Ghana take lead against Comoros

Mohammed Kudus gave Ghana the lead against Comoros in their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The West Ham midfielder scored with a well-placed shot after a strong spell of Ghanaian pressure.

His goal lifted the home crowd and boosted Ghana’s hopes of securing their spot at the 2026 World Cup.

Kudus, who has been one of Ghana’s key players throughout the qualifiers, looked sharp from the start, linking well with Jordan Ayew and Antoine Semenyo in attack.

Ghana controlled much of the first half, pressing high and creating several chances before finally breaking the deadlock through Kudus’ composed finish.

Comoros tried to respond with quick counterattacks, but Ghana’s defence, led by Alexander Djiku and Mohammed Salisu, stayed organized and calm under pressure.

It was a great team move, and I’m just happy to help the team, Kudus said after scoring. We know what’s at stake and are giving everything to make the country proud.

With this lead, Ghana moved closer to confirming qualification for the 2026 World Cup, much to the delight of the Accra fans who cheered every moment of Kudus’ brilliance.
