The Black Queens of Ghana are set to face either Rwanda or Egypt in the qualifiers for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Under the guidance of coach Nora Hauptle, Ghana aims to secure back-to-back WAFCON qualifications, having already earned a spot in next year’s tournament.
A total of 38 African nations will compete for one of the 12 available spots in the final tournament, alongside host nation Morocco, marking the third consecutive time the North African country will host Africa’s premier women’s football competition.
South Africa, along with five other teams—Zambia, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, and Cameroon—are exempt from the first round of qualifiers due to their high rankings in the FIFA standings.
As Ghana received a bye in the first round, they will enter the qualifiers in the second round, where they will face the winner of the match between Rwanda and Egypt.
The qualifiers will be held in two rounds of home-and-away fixtures, promising competitive and crucial matchups.
The first round is set for February 17 to 26, 2025, while the second round will take place from October 20 to 28, 2025.
