Gabon forward, Denis Bouanga is upbeat ahead of the upcoming games in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In the March international break, Gabon will take on Seychelles and Kenya in Rounds 5 and 6 of the African qualifiers for next year’s mundial.
After four games in Group F, Gabon is second in the standings with nine points, just one point behind African champions Ivory Coast.
Speaking ahead of the games against Seychelles and Kenya, Denis Bouanga has stressed that they are crucial games that they need to win.
“These are crucial matches, especially the ones at home, where we can’t afford to drop any points. The goal is clear: win all our home games and keep our winning momentum. Continuing from our qualification for the AFCON, we must seize this opportunity to get closer to a historic World Cup qualification,” Bouanga said.
The highly-rated forward continued, “One point behind isn’t much. The pressure is more on Côte d’Ivoire, which has to constantly look behind it. They know we’re right there, ready to seize any opportunity, especially since we’ll have the chance to face them at home. We’re in an ideal position. Now it’s up to us to keep up the momentum, maintain the same mindset, and believe in this immense dream, both for the country and for the players.”
Bouanga will be a key player for Gabon in both games against Seychelles and Kenya.
