2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Ghana Coach Otto Addo sends clear message ahead of September clash

The head coach of Ghana, Otto Addo, has named his squad for the final round of games in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Rising talent Kojo Peprah Oppong has been handed a call-up after his outstanding performances for OGC Nice in the French Ligue 1 this season. The 21-year-old, who began his career at Attram De Visser in the Division One League before moving to Europe two years ago, has been one of the standout youngsters in France.

Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku also makes a return to the squad. The winger enjoyed a stellar campaign in the English Championship before suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in November that sidelined him for months.

Defender Alidu Seidu has also been recalled after recovering from a long-term knee injury that has kept him out of action since November last year.

Meanwhile, Medeama SC midfielder Prince Owusu has been rewarded with his first national team call-up following an impressive start to the Ghana Premier League season.

The Black Stars will face the Central African Republic in their penultimate qualifier at Stade d’Honneur de Meknes on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 16:00 GMT.

They will then return home to host Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 19:00 GMT.

Ghana currently tops Group I with 19 points heading into the last two matches. A win in any of the two matches will secure qualification for the Black Stars.
