2026/27 Ghana Premier League: Three promoted clubs confirmed

Ghanaian football has entered a historic new era as debutants Port City FC, FC AshantiGold ’04, and Debibi United FC officially secured promotion to the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League (GPL).

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed that all three clubs will compete in the top flight for the first time in their histories, replacing the relegated sides of the ongoing 2025/26 campaign.

Port City FC was the first to punch its ticket, dominating Zone Three of the Division One League to clinch the title with four matches to spare.

In Zone Two, the newly formed FC AshantiGold ’04 emulated this dominance by booking their elite division spot with three games remaining, courtesy of a decisive 4–1 victory over rivals Skyy FC.

The promotional trio was completed in dramatic fashion at the Accra Sports Stadium, where Debibi United FC staged a thrilling 3–1 comeback victory over Tamale City in the Zone One playoff final.

Trailing early, Debibi United rallied behind a sensational second-half hat-trick from star striker Kwadwo Antwi, sealing a historic triumph that triggered wild celebrations among their traveling supporters.

With the current 2025/26 GPL season wrapping up in late May 2026, these three newcomers will immediately pivot to intense preparations for the ultimate stage.

Club executives have already announced plans for aggressive squad reinforcements and immediate stadium infrastructure upgrades to meet strict GFA licensing criteria before the 2026/27 campaign kicks off in September 2026.
