Ghana U20 defender Aaron Essel has disclosed that players are aware there are scouts watching them at the 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
He has, however, stressed that players are not distracted but are staying focused on giving their all to make their country proud.
“Yes, we know there are scouts watching. But we’re not distracted. We’re playing for Ghana. This is about the team, about our future, and about pride,” Aaron Essel said.
The defender further indicated that all the players in the camp of the Black Satellites are determined to achieve something for the country to leave their name in the history books.
He added that there is motivation to deliver to ensure the team achieves its goals at the tournament.
“We’re not just here to compete; we’re here to leave a legacy. We know what this opportunity means to Ghana, and we’re ready to honour that responsibility,” Essel said.
The defender is expected to start for Ghana on Monday, May 12, in their quarter-final match against Egypt.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 3 pm at Suez Stadium.
