Egypt U20 attacker Mohamed Abdalla was named Man of the Match on Sunday evening after starring for the side in their victory against South Africa’s U20 national team in the 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The talented teenager started for the team in their opening Group A match of the 2025 CAF U20 AFCON tournament played at the Cairo International Stadium.
Despite the impressive performance from both teams, neither side could get on the scoresheet and had to go into the break on level pegging.
In the second half, Mohamed Abdallah broke the deadlock of the game in the 63rd minute after he was set up by Mohamed Raafat.
The forward fired a low drive that beat the South African goalkeeper despite his best effort.
At the end of the match, Mohamed Abdalla was named Man of the Match.

The win against South Africa takes Egypt to the top of the Group A standings at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
Zambia and Tanzania follow in second and third in the group, while South Africa sits bottom of the group.
