In the first half of the match, both teams could have scored but failed to convert any of the chances that were created.
After recess, Zambia and Tanzania gave everything in their bid to find a way to score.
The game appeared to be heading for a draw until Zambia broke the deadlock in the 11th minute of added time.
A penalty awarded to the team was converted by Joseph Sabobo, sealing a dramatic win for Zambia to earn all three points.
This means Zambia are now second in the Group A standings with five points, just two points behind Sierra Leone in first position.
Tanzania, on the other hand, are bottom of the group standings with no points.
