Morocco U-20 head coach Mohamed Ouahbi is geared up for the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) but expects a challenging encounter against South Africa.
Speaking ahead of the match after Morocco defeated Egypt in the semi-finals, coach Mohamed Ouahbi described South Africa as a side with great quality, insisting that his team has a lot of respect for them.
“The most important match has not yet been played. The final is still ahead, and it will be against a South African team that has shown great quality throughout the tournament,” coach Mohamed Ouahbi said.
He continued, “We have a lot of respect for the South African team. They’re strong, organised, and they don’t give anything away easily. We’ll celebrate tonight, but then we rest, recover, and plan carefully for the biggest match of our lives.”
The Amajitas of South Africa are making their second-ever appearance in the U-20 AFCON final, having finished runners-up in 1997.
The final of the U20 AFCON between Morocco and South Africa is scheduled to kick off at 6 pm at Cairo International Stadium.
