Zambia’s U20 national team fought to the end on Tuesday afternoon to secure a dramatic 1-0 win over Tanzania’s U20 national team in their clash in the 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The two national teams locked horns today at the Suez Canal Stadium in Round 3 of the games in Group A.
On the matchday, both teams put up an impressive performance in both halves.
In the first half, both teams could have scored but failed to convert any of the chances that were created.
After recess, Zambia and Tanzania gave everything in their bid to find a way to score.
The game appeared to be heading for a draw until Zambia broke the deadlock in the 11th minute of added time.
A penalty awarded to the team was converted by Joseph Sabobo, sealing a dramatic win for Zambia to earn all three points.
This means Zambia are now second in the Group A standings with five points, just two points behind Sierra Leone in first position.
Tanzania, on the other hand are bottom of the group standings with no points.
