The Black Satellites of Ghana are through to the knockout stage of the 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after topping Group C with seven points.
The Ghana U20 side wrapped up their games in the group on Thursday afternoon with a narrow 1-0 win over the Central African Republic.
In the game played at the Suez Canal Stadium, the teams put up a strong performance in both halves.
Although the Black Satellites dominated play in the first half and created the most chances, the team lacked the finishing to break the deadlock of the game.
It was more of the same in the second half, but the Ghanaian side pushed to find the back of the net in the 84th minute.
An equaliser by Joseph Opoku after he was set up by Joseph Aidoo earned the team all the three points for Ghana at the end of the 90 minutes.
With the win today, Ghana progresses to the knockout stage of the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations as Group C leaders with seven points.
Defending Champions Senegal also progressed from the group with four points. DR Congo is likely to also go through as one of the best third-placed teams.
