The Moroccan youth national team has landed in Chile to step up preparations for the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup, which kicks off on September 27.

The squad, led by head coach Mohamed Wahbi, travelled with a strong delegation as they aim to make a mark on the global stage.

Prior to departure, the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, met with the players and technical team.

He urged them to uphold Morocco’s recent successes on the international scene and to represent the country with pride.

Lekjaa encouraged the team to push beyond the group stage and assured them of his confidence in their abilities.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining the high standards set by Moroccan teams across various competitions this year, several of which have ended with finals appearances or titles.

Morocco enters the tournament on the back of an impressive run at the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, where they finished as runners-up to Egypt.

The country’s best-ever performance at this level dates back to 2005, when the Atlas Cubs reached the semi-finals before finishing fourth in a tournament ultimately won by Argentina.
