2025 FIFA U17 Men’s World Cup: South Africa coach Vela Khumalo eyes win over Qatar on Thursday
The head coach of South Africa, Vela Khumalo, has his eyes set on a win against Qatar on Thursday in their second Group A match of the 2025 FIFA U17 Men’s World Cup.
Following their impressive 3-1 triumph over Bolivia in the opener, the Amajimbos are looking to seal early qualification to the knockout stage with a win on Thursday. Khumalo believes securing six points before their final group match would give the team valuable momentum and confidence.
“Like I said, I so wish that we can get a good recovery from our medical side,” Khumalo noted.
He added, “It’s going to affect us a bit, especially since we’re playing against the hosts. It will be all odds against us, but we need to manage that. Hopefully, we can win the game, get six points, and qualify for the next stage.”
The Amajimbos are currently top of Group A and will be hoping to continue their fine form when they take on Qatar in what promises to be a crucial clash.
