2025 Club World Cup: Mamelodi Sundowns’ four points in Group F not enough to secure a place in Round 16

South African giants, Mamelodi Sundowns, have been eliminated from the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup at the end of their group games.

Pitted in Group F, Sundowns competed with Ulsan HD, Borussia Dortmund, and Fluminense.

In their first match at the tournament, Mamelodi Sundowns dominated and defeated Ulsan HD by a goal to nil.

Subsequently, Mamelodi Sundowns faced off with Borussia Dortmund in what was the group’s most exciting match in the group and one of the best games at the tournament.

After a pulsating encounter, Dortmund secured a 4-3 win over Sundowns, but the South Africans won the hearts of football fans across the globe.

Today, Mamelodi Sundowns played their last match at the tournament against Fluminense and needed to win by all means.

Despite the best efforts of the team, they could not score and had to settle for a goalless draw.

At the end of the group games, Sundowns finished third with four points behind Dortmund and Fluminense, who finished first and second in Group F, respectively.
