England-born defender of Ghanaian descent, Josh Acheampong, has rallied his Chelsea teammates to focus on themselves ahead of their Round 16 match against Benfica at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Speaking to Chelsea media in an interview after the win against Esperance de Tunis, the teenager said he is anticipating a tough encounter against the Portuguese opponent.
“Benfica are a really big club, but every game in this competition is hard. So while we need to focus on the opponent, the most important thing is that we focus on ourselves.
“It [the tournament] is really exciting. We’re into the knockouts now and every single game is important. We just have to keep winning,” Josh Acheampong said.
The talented defender is part of the Chelsea squad competing at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
While he admits the next phase of the tournament will be tough, he hopes the club can go all the way to clinch the trophy.
