Egyptian midfielder Marwan Attia will be absent next week when Al Ahly takes on FC Porto in their final Group A match at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
The midfielder is set to miss the crucial game through suspension as a result of yellow card accumulation.
Attia picked up yellow cards in each of Al Ahly’s first two matches against Inter Miami and Palmeiras.
The cautions have triggered an automatic suspension, which means he won’t be part of his team’s squad for the next match.
His absence adds to Al Ahly’s growing list of unavailable players, with Imam Ashour and Taher Mohamed Taher both sidelined through injury.
Al Ahly will face FC Porto at 4:00 AM on Tuesday, June 24.
The Egyptians must beat the Portuguese opponent to stand any chance of advancing to the knockout stage of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
