Egyptian giants Al Ahly could be without defensive midfielder Ahmed Nabil Kouka on Thursday during their second game in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup against Palmeiras.
The midfielder missed Al Ahly’s training session on Tuesday due to an injury he sustained during the opening match against Inter Miami.
Before the training, Al Ahly’s first-team doctor, Ahmed Gaballah, confirmed in an official statement on the club’s website that Ahmed Kouka will miss the session due to a knee bruise.
Al-Ahly’s doctor explained that Kouka only trained in the gym yesterday, before missing today’s group training session due to the injury he sustained during the Inter Miami match.
Gaballah indicated that Al-Ahly’s technical staff preferred not to allow him to participate in training for fear of aggravating the injury.
The team doctor added that the player will undergo further medical tests in the coming hours.
The series of events has cast doubt on the ability of Ahmed Nabil Kouka to feature in Al Ahly’s second match against Palmeiras on Thursday.
Al Ahly will hope to win that game to increase the chances of advancing to the knockout stage of the FIFA Club World Cup.
