Kenya national team head coach Benni McCarthy has issued a bold warning to his opponents ahead of the upcoming 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The Harambee Stars have been drawn into Group A alongside Zambia, Angola, Morocco, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
McCarthy took over the reins in March 2025, has already made a strong impression on the team.
The ex-Manchester United first-team coach is adamant that the Harambee Stars can pose a strong challenge to any of their opponents.
“In three weeks, we will have a team that no one wants to face,” McCarthy said, according to Kenyan publication People Daily.
“We are preparing the best way possible because I believe we have selected a strong, competitive squad. Everyone is eager for this challenge,” McCarthy told the press.
“We know our fans will be behind us, supporting and motivating us all the way,” added the former Cape Town City and AmaZulu tactician.
“Our focus now is on training hard and building strong team chemistry. The league just ended recently, so our match fitness is intact, now it’s about adapting to the coach’s system.”
The 2025 edition of CHAN will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, with the tournament set to run from August 2 to August 30, 2025.
Kenya will kick start the campaign with a clash against DR Congo on August 3.
