Mohamed Salah declares himself the Greatest African Footballer of All Time

Egyptian superstar, Mohamed Salah, has been named the fourth best player in the world at the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony, held in Paris on Monday, September 22.

The Liverpool forward continues to cement his legacy as one of Africa’s greatest footballers, narrowly missing out on a podium finish but still earning global recognition on football’s grandest individual stage.

Salah’s consistent brilliance for Liverpool in both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League kept him firmly in the spotlight. His performances were pivotal as the Reds remained competitive domestically and in Europe, with his trademark goalscoring and leadership proving invaluable throughout the season.

The award ultimately went to Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembélé, who capped off a historic campaign with a treble and the Champions League Player of the Season accolade. Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal and PSG midfielder Vitinha completed the top three.

Salah, however, stood tall among the nominees, finishing ahead of global stars including Barcelona’s Raphinha, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, and France’s Kylian Mbappé.
