Ghanaian coach James Kwesi Appiah and his Sudan national team are set for a challenging campaign at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after being drawn into Group E.
At the official draw held on Monday, January 27, Sudan was placed alongside Algeria, Burkina Faso, and Equatorial Guinea, setting up a tough group stage battle.
Despite Sudan’s impressive qualification ahead of Ghana’s Black Stars, the team will need to step up their preparations to make an impact at the tournament.
Coach Kwesi Appiah is expected to organise high-profile friendly matches as part of the team’s build-up for the competition, which will be hosted in Morocco.
The 2025 AFCON is scheduled to kick off on Sunday, December 21, and will run until Sunday, January 18, 2026, when the final will be played.
