2025 AFCON: Facing Comoros in opening match won’t be easy, says Morocco head coach Walid Regragui

The head coach of Morocco, Walid Regragui has indicated that his team will face a tough test when they take on Comoros in the opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

At the end of the draw for the tournament, host Morocco will face Mali, Zambia, and Comoros in Group A.

The first match of the tournament will be between Morocco and Comoros on December 21.

Speaking to Koora after the draw, Walid Regragui said the opening game will be very tough.

“We will face a team (Comoros) without pressure in the opening match. They have nothing to lose, because they will face the host and the most prominent candidate for the title, and we must take this into consideration. I do not see them as an easy team as many think,” the Morocco head coach said.

Morocco as hosts for the 2025 AFCON are seen as favourites for the trophy.

To succeed, however, coach Regragui and his side must prepared adequately.
