South African coach Hugo Broos has rated the Egyptian national team as the strongest opponent in their group ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Bafana Bafana has been paired in Group B against record holders, Egypt, Angola and Zimbabwe.

Despite failing to impress at previous tournament, Hugo Broos has tipped the Pharaohs as the favourite in their group.

“Despite the bad championship they played in the last edition, and they didn’t perform the performance that everyone expected from them either, but I think that last year or the last year and a half, they started to build a good team, they performed very well in the playoffs, so it will be the team to beat and maybe get the first place” he said.

The 2025 AFCON tournament has been scheduled for December-January 2026 in Morocco.
