2025 AFCON Draw: Holders Ivory Coast pitted in Group D, Egypt meets South Africa in Group B

All is set for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) following the official draw for the tournament on Monday, January 27.

At the end of the draw, some exciting match-ups have been set up.

The opening match of the tournament will be a clash between host nation Morocco and Comoros.

Holders Ivory Coast have been pitted in Group F where the Elephants will battle with Cameroon, Gabon, and Mozambique.

Record champions Egypt are in Group B and will take on South Africa, Angola as well as Zimbabwe.

After losing last AFCON’s final to Ivory Coast, Nigeria is returning to try and win the trophy.

In the group campaign, the Super Eagles will face off with the likes of Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania.

This year’s AFCON which will commence on Sunday, December 21, will run through to the next month with the final scheduled for Sunday, January 18, 2026.
