Nigeria’s U17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, will compete in the 2024 WAFU B U17 Girls’ Cup in Ghana, from December 12 to 26. Head Coach Bankole Olowookere has announced a 25-player squad for the regional tournament.
The Flamingos, coming off a strong quarter-final finish at the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic, where they also claimed the FIFA Fair Play Trophy, are eager to build on that success.
Olowookere’s roster features several key players from the World Cup campaign, including midfield dynamo Shakirat Moshood, who scored four goals.
Other notable inclusions are goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma, and defenders Taiwo Adegoke, Jumai Adebayo, and Prisca Nwachukwu.
Placed in Group B, Nigeria will face Côte d’Ivoire and Niger Republic. Group A consists of Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Benin.
The team will gather for training on December 3 at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State.
