The 2024 WAFU B Girls’ Cup Local Organising Committee (LOC) held a key meeting on Wednesday, 11 December 2024, with WAFU B Executive Director Phillipe Tchere and other WAFU B officials at the Ghanaman Centre of Excellence in Accra.
The meeting focused on finalising preparations for the upcoming WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup, set to begin on Thursday at the Ghana FA Technical Centre.
Among those in attendance were Deputy General Secretary Ama Brobey Williams, Maxwell Caeser Kemeh from the Competitions Department, Technical Centre Director Winnifred Mawudeku, and John Ansah of the Safety and Security Committee. Female officials from WAFU B, including Coordinators, Match Commissioners, and Media Officers, also participated.
Williams welcomed the delegation, assuring them of the Ghana Football Association’s commitment to delivering a successful tournament. Tchere emphasised President Kurt Okraku’s vision of inclusivity and excellence, noting that the competition would aid in developing youth talent for future World Cup qualifiers.
The tournament features five countries: Ghana, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Niger, and Benin. Ghana’s Black Maidens will play Benin in the opening match on Thursday at 15:00 GMT.
