South Africa brushed aside Mali with a 4-0 win on Monday night, finishing top of the Group C standings at the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The defending champions kicked off their campaign at the tournament in Morocco with a 2-0 victory against the Black Queens of Ghana.

The Banyana Banyana, fancied to beat Tanzania in their second group game at the tournament, were held to a 1-1 draw at the end of 90 minutes.

Today, South Africa set up strong in their final group match, determined to bag all three points at all costs.

After putting up a spirited performance, the team romped past the opponent fantastically.

Goals from Lebogang Ramalepe and Refiloe Jane set the defending champions on their way to victory in the first half before second-half goals from Hildah Magaia and Ronnel Donnelly sealed the emphatic victory in the second half.

With seven points, South Africa finished top of Group C to advance to the quarter-finals of the 2024 WAFCON.

Other Group C opponents, Ghana and Mali, are also through to the knockout stage of the tournament with four points each.
