The captain of the Super Falcons of Nigeria, Rasheedat Ajibade, was named Woman of the Match on Tuesday evening after their win against South Africa in the semi-final of the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The midfielder started for the Super Falcons on the matchday and scored the opening goal of the game on the stroke of halftime from the penalty spot.

For her efforts in the close contest, Rasheedat Ajibade earned the TotalEnergies Woman of the Match award for her semi-final performance.

After recess, the Banyana Banyana turned the game on its head, dominating and taking the game to the Nigerians.

The efforts of the team paid off in the 60th minute when South Africa were awarded a penalty kick.

Star attacker Linda Motlhalo accepted the responsibility and equalised to restore parity to the game.

With the game level, a fierce contest ensued between the two teams, but Nigeria secured the win in the end.

A long-range cross from Michelle Alozie eluded the South African defence and ended up in the back of the net to win the game for Nigeria, booking their place in the final.
