Moroccan striker Ibtissam Jraïdi has been awarded Woman of the Match following her outstanding performance in her team’s 3-1 win against Mali in the quarter-final of the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The experienced striker started for the host nation on Friday night in their crucial clash against Mali.

Ibtissam Jraidi opened the scoring after she was set up by winger Sakina Ouzraoui Diki with an inviting low cross.

Morocco went on to dominate but could not score before the break. Mali, on the other hand, managed to equalise in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, the goal was ruled out for offside.

After recess, Morocco continued to dominate, although Mali improved on their first-half performance.

In the 79th minute, Ibtissam Jraidi converted a penalty kick to make it a brace on the night. Later in the 89th minute, Kenza Chapelle also equalised to make it 3-0 for the host.

Although Mali pulled on a break-through Aissata Traore in the dying minutes, it only served as a consolation goal.

For her efforts in the game, Ibtissam Jraidi has been named Woman of the Match.
