Captain of Morocco’s women’s national team, Ghizlane Chebbak, took home the Woman of the Match (WoTM) award on Wednesday night after leading her side to a delightful 4-2 win against D.R Congo in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The highly-rated attacker started for her national team on the matchday and bagged a sensational hat-trick to ensure they came from behind to amass three crucial points in their second group game at the tournament.
For he reward, she was selected as the TotalEnergies Woman of the Match award.

In Wednesday’s encounter, D.R Congo stunned Morocco after just six minutes into the first half, scoring through a strike from Merveille Kanjinga to take the lead.
After the setback, Morocco stayed focused and upped their game, turning the game around before the halftime break.
A sensational brace from star attacker and captain Ghizlane Chebbak in the 25th and 43rd minutes, respectively, ensured that the host nation went into the break with a 2-1 lead.
Although DR Congo pulled level in the 70th minute when Flavine Mawete scored, goals from Ghizlane Chebbak and Yasmine Mrabet later in the match sealed a resounding 4-2 victory for Morocco.
The result means Morocco stays top of the Group A standings after the second round of group games.
