Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Kim Bjorkegren says it’s time for Ghana to rise above the underdog tag as they prepare for a crucial semi-final clash against Morocco at the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Addressing the media ahead of the highly anticipated match, Coach Bjorkegren expressed confidence in his team’s ability to defy expectations and make a bold statement on the continental stage.
“This team has been underestimated for too long. We want to shake things up,” he said, underlining Ghana’s determination to reclaim its status as a powerhouse in African women’s football.
The Black Queens booked their place in the semi-finals after a spirited performance saw them edge past Algeria in a hard-fought quarter-final encounter.
That victory has set the stage for a thrilling showdown with tournament hosts Morocco in Rabat on Tuesday, July 22.
A win would send Ghana to the WAFCON final for the first time since 2006.
