Nigeria coach, Daniel Ogunmodede has vowed that his side will fight like warriors against Ghana.
The Super Eagles B will host the Black Galaxies in the return leg of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.
Nigeria held Ghana to a goalless scoreline in the first leg of the qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium last Sunday.
With the return leg scheduled for Saturday, December 28 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Ogunmodede has vowed that his side will go all out for the win.
“We are doing everything to stay focused by avoiding any distractions,” Ogunmodede said. “Yes, we got a scoreless draw in the first leg away and now playing at home, but we are not in any way carried away. Our objective was to score an away goal in Accra, but that did not happen.”
The coach knows the stakes and historical difficulties of facing Ghana but remains optimistic. “On Saturday, we will approach the game like our lives depend on it,” he asserted.
“This match is not just about tactics or skill; it’s about heart, determination, and fighting like warriors for every ball and opportunity. We know what this means for Nigeria, and we’re ready to give everything.”
Ogunmodede has been rallying his squad to maintain peak mental focus and physical preparation, knowing the intensity that Ghana will bring, especially given the Black Galaxies’ desire to make amends for their recent failures in AFCON qualifiers.
“This is a battle of pride and purpose,” Ogunmodede stated. “We respect Ghana, but we are confident in our preparation and spirit.”
The game has been scheduled to kick off at 16:00 GMT.
