2024 CHAN Qualifiers: 44-year-old Rabiu Ali named in Nigeria squad to face Ghana

Nigeria home-based Super Eagles coach Austin Eguavoen has summoned 30 players to prepare for their 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers against Ghana.

Among the standout selections is 44-year-old veteran Kano Pillars midfielder Rabiu Ali, who has been in exceptional form, scoring eight goals in the current Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The squad also includes top scorer Anas Yusuf, goalkeeper Kayode Bankole from Remo Stars, Rivers United defender Steven Mayo, and Abia Warriors forward Sunday Megwo.

Enyimba’s Henry Ozoemena and Kazeem Ogunleye from Enugu Rangers have also been called up, alongside Victor Collins of Nasarawa United, who recently participated in the AFCON qualifiers.

Training will commence on Wednesday, December 4, at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

The first leg against Ghana is scheduled for December 22 in Accra, with the return match on December 28 in Uyo.
