Morocco coach Tarik Sektoui says he is confident ahead of their quarterfinal clash against Tanzania despite their defensive woes.
The Atlas Lions will face the co-hosts today for a place in the last four in the ongoing 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Abdelhak Assal and Marouane Louadni will miss the match due to injuries, while Bouchouaib Arrassi is suspended because of accumulated yellow cards.
Despite these absences, Sektoui said he will make the right choices to keep the team balanced against Tanzania.
According to him, the team aims to reach the semifinals, then the final, and ultimately win the championship.
“The level Moroccan football has reached demands that we aim for the top in any tournament, no matter the difficulties,” Sektioui said.
When asked about the strong support Tanzania is expected to receive from its home crowd, Sektoui said his players are used to big matches in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.
He added that the crowd could motivate the Moroccan players to perform even better, adding a special flavour to the game.
Sektoui also commended his players’ form and commitment, saying they “deserve recognition for their hard work, dedication to the national jersey, and great sense of responsibility.”
