Senegal will take on Eswatini this Sunday as part of the second round of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with the Lions of Teranga aiming to build on their positive start and secure three more valuable points.
After their victory over Congo Brazzaville at the Lat Dior Stadium earlier this week, confidence is high within the squad. However, head coach Aliou Cissé has suggested that changes could be made to the starting lineup for this encounter. With two matches scheduled in a short period, the Senegalese manager is keen to rotate his players and keep the entire group involved.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Cissé explained that squad rotation is both logical and necessary when managing a 23-man roster. He emphasized that giving opportunities to different players allows everyone to contribute and stay competitive.
“The team that started this Wednesday against Congo Brazzaville could be changed. When you call up 23 players for two matches, it is normal to start some and allow others to shine,” the coach said.
Despite the possible adjustments, Senegal’s objective remains unchanged. The Lions are fully focused on claiming victory and continuing their strong run in the qualifiers. Cissé reiterated his belief in the strength and depth of his squad and expressed his determination to see the team deliver another solid performance.
“We are determined to win this match against Eswatini. We have a quality group, and I will never tire of saying it,” he added.
