Women’s World Cup 2019: Nigeria Faces Norway in Group A Opener
Nigeria’s Super Falcons kick off their 2019 Women’s World Cup campaign this Saturday in France, facing Norway at Stade Auguste-Delaune in Reims at 7 p.m. (local time). The African side must secure a win if they hope to progress to the knockout stages.
Coach Thomas Dennerby will rely on stars such as Barcelona’s Asisat Oshoala, alongside Adeyeye Damilola, Tobi Adeleke, and Egesionu Sopuru. Norway, however, will be a tough opponent, having recently defeated South Africa 7-2 in a friendly.
The match officials are led by Australian referee Kate Jacewicz, assisted by American Kathryn Nesbitt and Canadian Chantal Boudreau. The fourth official is Australian Casey Reibelt, while VAR duties will be handled by Dutch official Danny Makkelie.
Meanwhile, Group A leaders France got off to a flying start with a dominant 4-0 victory over South Korea at the Parc des Princes yesterday.
