Senegal’s preparations for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations are taking shape, but coach Aliou Cissé is taking his time before announcing the final squad. Unlike Cameroon, whose coach Clarence Seedorf revealed a preliminary 34-man list on May 10, Cissé plans to wait a few more days.
According to Les Echos, the Lions of Teranga coach will unveil his list of 27 players, including four reserves, no later than May 20th. This squad will represent Senegal in the continental tournament, which is set to run from June 21 to July 19 in Egypt.
Senegal has been drawn into Group C, where they will face Algeria, Kenya, and Tanzania. To prepare for these challenges, Cissé has organized a training camp in Spain, allowing the team to fine-tune tactics, build cohesion, and assess players’ form ahead of the competition.
The careful timing of the squad announcement reflects Cissé’s approach: ensuring players are fully fit and in optimal condition while making considered decisions about who will make the final 23-man roster for the tournament. Senegalese fans eagerly await the revelation, anticipating a competitive team capable of challenging for the title.
