Ivory Coast got their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations preparations off to a strong start with a 3-1 friendly victory over Comoros in France on Friday.
Returning to the national team after a long absence, Wilfried Bony stole the show. The striker opened the scoring in the 40th minute and added two more goals after halftime to secure a commanding lead for the Elephants.
Comoros briefly troubled the hosts when Kassim Abdallah scored an own goal, giving Ivory Coast a 3-0 advantage. The visitors managed to salvage some pride in stoppage time through a penalty converted by Youssouf M’Changama, following a foul by Wilfried Kanon on Djamaladine Atoiyi.
Ivory Coast will continue their preparation against Uganda on June 14 in Abu Dhabi.
