The Côte d’Ivoire Women’s National Team, known as the Elephants, is gearing up for their upcoming qualifier match against Mali for the 2015 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. In preparation, they recently faced off against the Juventus de Yopougon girls in a friendly match held at the National Technical Center in Bingerville.
The friendly provided an opportunity for the team’s coach, Clémentine Touré, to make final adjustments ahead of the crucial qualifier on February 15. Additionally, the players were encouraged by the visit of the National Elephant Support Committee (CNSE), led by its president, Dr. Kouassi Perfect.
Dr. Kouassi reiterated the committee’s unwavering support for the women’s football team, emphasizing the importance of motivation and commitment as they prepare to face Mali. He expressed the collective backing of the Ivorian people, urging the players to approach the game with determination and passion.
Despite the achievements of the men’s team, who have secured their place as continental champions, the women’s team has yet to progress beyond the first round of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. However, with the support of the nation behind them, the Elephants are determined to make their mark in the upcoming tournament.
